Taking a helicopter tour in Detroit is absolutely worth it, and I 100% recommend this tour. As a local, I’ve had the chance to explore the city in-depth, and this was by far one of the coolest activities I’ve done!

The tour starts at the Detroit City Airport. There is free parking there if you are driving. Otherwise, Uber or Lyft are good options to get there.

Once you are there, you will board the helicopter and meet the pilot. Onboard, you will receive a headset that allows you to talk to others in your group while on the flight.

Each helicopter fits 2-3 passengers. This helicopter ride is a private tour, so it is just you, your group, and the pilot onboard. There also isn’t any age minimum for the ride, but children under 2 have to ride on your lap.

Once you are up in the air, you will have the most incredible views of downtown Detroit. I knew going into the tour that the views would be good, but wow! I can’t even put into words how breathtaking the views are – it’s something you absolutely should experience for yourself!

The helicopter ride will take you over some of the most iconic places in downtown Detroit, including Comerica Park, Ford Field, and the GM Renaissance Center. The helicopter soars around Detroit’s neighborhoods like Corktown and Midtown, as well as the historic Eastern Market.

You will also get stunning views of the Ambassador Bridge, the Detroit River, and even of Canada in the distance. The views of the river and Ambassador Bridge were my favorite part of the trip!
