There are three ways to get to Mackinac Island: by ferry, plane or personal boat.
Take a Ferry to Mackinac Island
The easiest and best way to get to Mackinac Island is to take a commercial ferry. Sheplers Ferry and Star Line are the two main ferry companies.
You can catch the ferry from Mackinaw City in the lower peninsula and St. Ignace in the Upper Peninsula.
Ferries run frequently through October and then on a more limited schedule through the winter.
Take a Plane to Mackinac Island
If you’d prefer to fly into Mackinac Island, you can do so! The island has its own self-service airport featuring a 3,500 foot long lighted runway.
